Our Love Story

They say every woman hopes to find a man who brings her peace, who loves her truly, and who will always choose her above all else. For years, I believed this was just a beautiful thought—something I’d maybe stumble upon far in the future, long after I’d built my life.

It was 2019 in Baguio, the City of Pines, and my world revolved around one thing: preparing for my board exam. Days blurred into nights as I buried myself in books, my mind focused only on passing and building my career. I’d closed off my heart completely; love was not on my agenda. But life has a way of writing its own chapters, and I couldn’t ignore what God had in store.

I thought I met Carlo by chance—but now I know our meeting was written in the stars all along. Friends who saw us together would often stop us to ask how two people from such faraway hometowns could have crossed paths. The answer lies in one of my guy best friends—he was Carlo’s junior at their academy, and one day, he simply said, “I think you two should meet.” That was the start of everything.

Distance could have easily pulled us apart, but Carlo made sure it never did. He’d drive for hours just to see me, covering kilometers of road with a smile on his face and nothing but pure intentions in his heart. After more than a year of his steady, caring courtship, I finally let my walls come down and said yes. We were officially a couple.

No relationship is perfect, and ours is no different. Carlo works at sea, which means we spend long stretches apart—days turning into weeks, weeks into months. But even across the ocean, he never lets me feel alone. He checks in every chance he gets, makes sure I’m taken care of, and fills my days with the peace I’d always prayed for. I never have to worry about where I stand with him; his faith in God shines through in everything he does, and I know his heart is good. Even when he’s away, his family has made me feel like one of their own—always inviting me to gatherings, checking in on me, and making sure I never feel isolated while he’s at sea.

I give him all my love in return, and each night I offer prayers for his safety—that the winds carry him gently and the waves lead him well, wherever his journey takes him.

Years slipped by in the blink of an eye, and then came the moment I’d only imagined in my dreams. With the help of his family to surprise me – surrounded by their laughter, happiness, and the same warmth that had made me feel at home with them from the start – he got down on one knee and asked me to spend forever by his side. They had carefully planned every detail, and their joy in sharing this moment with us made it even more meaningful. My yes was the easiest word I’ve ever spoken.

As we prepare to start this new chapter as husband and wife, we carry every moment we’ve shared—every laugh, every argument, every mile we’ve crossed to be together. We also hold close the love and support of his family, who welcomed me with open arms long before this special day.
