Our Love Story

A banker’s idea of a romantic date? Dinner, followed by a detailed financial analysis of the bill! (Oh, just wait until all these crazy wedding affairs are over—you can only imagine what it’s like when two bankers, like Daryl and me, are planning a future together!)

But jokes aside, our story didn’t start in the most romantic of places. We first met at the bank—yes, really, we did. And let me tell you, a workplace filled with busy, overworked people is not exactly where you’d expect love to blossom!

On Daryl’s first day at Wealth Development Bank, a local subsidiary of Korea’s WooriBank, he walked into the orientation room where he saw me, chatting with a group of new hires, going over some basic refresher training on bank risk management. When our eyes met for the first time, I felt something—a spark that was more than just curiosity. There was something about him that caught my attention, even in the midst of a busy day.

During the orientation, I noticed Daryl sneaking glances at me, and to be honest, I found myself doing the same. There was a warmth in his eyes, and something about him just drew me in. Over the weeks that followed, we were assigned to work on projects together, and that initial spark grew into something more. We discovered a shared passion for finance and helping clients, but also a shared sense of humor that made even the longest workdays enjoyable. As we got to know each other better, we realized we had both recently gone through tough breakups after seven-year relationships.

It was this shared experience of heartache that really brought us closer. We supported each other through the healing process, offering comfort and understanding without judgment. Our friendship gradually blossomed into a deep and abiding love, filled with laughter, shared dreams, and quiet moments of tenderness. Even after we moved on from the bank where we met—me continuing with my daily financial analyses for BPI’s corporate clients and Daryl providing valuable banking services to EastWest Unibank’s VIPs—our love remained strong.

Two years into our relationship, surrounded by our family, friends, and in the presence of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, Daryl and I are ready to begin a new chapter as husband and wife. Hand in hand, with our hearts locked together, we know that our love story is just beginning. It’s filled with endless possibilities and the promise of a future built on faith, love, and unwavering devotion.
