OUR LOVE STORY
Our love story began when my brother-in-heart set us up to be paired at the PMMA Acquaintance Party in 2014. However, I didn’t attend due to my hectic schedule and uncertain circumstances. At that time, I was a graduating research student at the Polytechnic University of the Philippines, while he was a Marine Engineering student at the Philippine Merchant Marine Academy.
After two years, something unexpected happened. I randomly sent birthday greetings to a Facebook friend, and he was one of the lucky recipients. We ended up having a brief catch-up on Messenger, and the conversation led us to reminisce about the acquaintance party.
After a lengthy exchange of messages and courtship, we decided to give a long-distance relationship a try. I named him BLUE, which others often find difficult to understand. The name has a deeper meaning: since he frequently travels by sea and is guided by the sky, it symbolizes his nickname as a seafarer.
Luck was on our side again when we were chosen as lucky summer visitors to Baguio in 2017.
He prepared a special greeting for my 22nd birthday and also for our first anniversary. Then, we continued our long-distance relationship for our second and third anniversaries.

In 2018, we decided to take another step toward our goal by getting a car, which we named 'Bogart.
What we have in common is our adventurous and courageous nature. In 2019, we traveled 1,500 kilometers over three days, journeying from Bulacan to Kalinga and back.

Our fourth anniversary and his first birthday celebration with the family after five years were significant milestones. Our relationship wasn’t always perfect; we faced our share of shortcomings, roller coaster rides, and ups and downs. Despite these challenges, I am proud that we never fought over money, third parties, or our religious beliefs. We overcame difficulties together through love, trust, and respect for our differences.

In 2021, we acquired our own home. Coming from humble backgrounds, with both of our families not being wealthy and ourselves being breadwinners, we focused on our careers first, reflecting our Filipino values.

Long-distance relationships are far from simple. Not having someone by your side when you need them most is heartbreaking. Yet, he always finds ways to comfort and reassure me that everything will be fine. Our eight-year relationship has been supported by his gentleness, love, and trustworthiness, as well as by my own efforts. He is my first love and my great love for life. He is the man I've entrusted my whole life to, always treating me like a queen with a gentle heart.
After years of focusing on our careers, we have reaped the rewards of our hard work. I transitioned from an operations supervisor to a full-time government employee and a part-time financial advisor. He went from enduring hardships and training at the Academy to becoming a successful second engineer on an international commercial vessel and a navy reservist. We have grown both personally and professionally, and our relationship is now ready for a new level of commitment.
This August 2024, we’re finally tying the knot and beginning a new chapter in our lives. I am eternally grateful to God for giving me the best thing that has ever been mine. Please stay tuned for more of our love story.
